| How
much space do I need?
STEP 1
• Figure out a complete list of what you are storing
• Determine the dimensions of the largest items
• How high can you stack these items
• Will you need small hallways to move around
STEP 2
We have all standard sizes in addition to many in-between sizes
that may fit your needs.
In addition, we offer 2 more feet in height than most of our competitors.
Packing
Your Goods:
• All your goods should be dry
before you pack them, to prevent mildew.
• Try to use boxes of the same size, they utilize the space
better.
• Take home more boxes than you think you need. Most people
do not realize how much space
their goods can fit into. You can return your unused boxes to Storage
King USA.
• Use small boxes for heavy items and large boxes for lighter
goods.
• Fill up each box so that they are full to prevent them from
collapsing.
• Number your boxes and mark contents on both sides.
• Use plenty of packing material. Bubble wrap, towels, blankets,
pillows, and paper work well.
***Do not use normal newspaper, the ink will bleed and could cause
permanent damage.
Packing
Specialty Items:
• For dishes, glasses, and clothing,
use specialty boxes like wardrobe boxes and dishpaks.
• Appliances: tie doors and shut with rope
• Beds: Fasten bed rails together with
rope. Cover mattresses with plastic covers to keep them clean.
• Chairs: Wrap paper around the legs. Then cover with chair
covers.
• Dishes and Glasses: Use dishpak cartons. Fill bottom, sides,
and top with extra packing material. Use specialized foam, paper,
or light bubble wrap. Don’t forget to mark these boxes fragile.
• Lamps: Remove light bulbs and lamp shades. Pack shades in
their own box with plenty of packing paper.
• Mirrors and Paintings: Wrap in plain paper or light bubble
wrap and place in special mirror boxes.
• Sofas: To save space, stand sofas on end. Cover sofas well
with plastic covers and blankets.
Tips
of Moving:
Obtain a written estimate before your move,
and ask what charges may be added after they have your goods. Check
their insurance coverage. Movers come in and out of our facility
everyday and we have formed relationships with some of them that
can benefit you.
Packing
Your Room:
In large rooms, if you need access,
you should leave a hallway. Place items that you may need to get
to more frequently in the front of the room. Shelving helps you
maximize access to your items. You can stack higher on shelves and
keep some of your goods better organized. If you do not need access,
use smaller rooms and pack them full. Put the heaviest items on
the bottom and cover furniture with dust covers or furniture blankets.
